Sugar Scrub….the good sugar

Winter is finally here in Los Angeles and my skin could use some major exfoliating! I created a simple sugar scrub to help remove dead skin cells and reveal glowing, healthy skin.

What you will need:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 10-15 drops of lemon essential oil (approximately ½ tsp)
  • ½ cup coconut oil
  • 1 tablespoon Vitamin E oil

Combine all ingredients and use twice per week.

Did you know there are benefits to using a sugar scrub besides exfoliation? Not only does it help moisturizer penetrate deeper and hydrate longer, it also gives a smooth palette for make up.

Sugar scrubs can help even out the skin tone and prevent skin blemishes. Drug store scrubs and salt scrubs can cause microscopic tears, damaging the skin over time. Sugar scrubs are gentler and also more hydrating as salt scrubs can strip the skin of natural oils.

Massaging sugar scrub topically enhances blood circulation, which increases collagen production and prevents early signs of aging. So long, wrinkles! (Photo credit: getspaed.com)
