Hyper Pigmentation

Hyper pigmentation is a tough subject for a few reasons. First, it’s hard to accept that you have it. It gets worse with sun exposure. It is hard to cover with makeup and even harder to lighten.

I’ve been battling hyper pigmentation for three years and pregnancy only made it worse. It is caused by exposure to the sun mixed with a hormone imbalance. I have tried many products to help reduce the appearance of these marks.

My current favorite product to help hyper pigmentation is Good Genes.

Good Genes was cleared by my doctor (always check with yours) to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. It is also exfoliates, smooths and brightens your skin. After only one week of use, I noticed my face had a newfound softness and glow. After a month of use, the dark spots began to break up. I am currently still using the product because as we know, it takes a really long time to brighten dark spots. I am practicing patience while taking care of my skin!

SPF is SO important to wear even if you are not planning on being outside for long periods of time. Your skin is exposed to harmful light in the car, sitting by a window or even sitting under fluorescent lighting. All these instances can damage your skin.

Below, see my favorite SPF products:

Have you experienced hyper pigmentation? Do you have any tips on decreasing marks? I would love to hear them!

Thanks Chelsea for the Good Genes recommendation. I have a couple of dark spots on my face but I wasn’t sure how to lighten them. I also need to remember to apply a SPF.
