I am going to get a bit personal here. Several years ago, I unknowingly had a stroke in my sleep. I didn’t have immediate side effects, but over the years my right eyelid started drooping and the right corner of my mouth turned down a bit. It wasn’t anything severe, you wouldn’t have noticed unless I pointed it out. However, it bothered me and I felt like it stood out. The trend of the perfect eyebrow was starting and no matter what I did with makeup, I couldn’t fix the problem.
By pure chance, I met a cosmetic doctor at one of my jobs. In small talk my eyelid issue came up and before you knew it, I was sitting in her office for a consultation. I was able to raise the left eyebrow and both of them together, I just couldn’t get the right eyebrow to raise on its own. At the time, the only solution was Botox-ing the “good” eyebrow so that they both matched. It solved the unevenness problem, but now I had more of a hood lid. My happy open eye space was gone. This past year a new procedure called Ultherapy became available.
Ultherapy is a non-surgical way to lift the brow, under chin, and neck. It’s very noninvasive and has become the new way of face lifts. Ultherapy is FDA approved and uses ultra sound energy to lift and tighten the skin. It also improves the looks of fine lines and wrinkles. It doesn’t hurt and it’s a rather quick procedure. I had a little redness for a few hours afterwards. I had my entire forehead done but at different levels. The left was less wave lengths, just to clean out the wrinkles, but the right was stronger. Over the next six months my muscle was going to repair itself and my eyebrow was going to raise back up and gain movement. This procedure should last me two years and didn’t cost an unreasonable amount.
Most importantly, I think it was well worth it and the end result is noticeable. I know this isn’t for everyone, I am not suggesting or encouraging anyone to get work done. You have to do what is right for you. I was self conscious and now I feel confident! I don’t worry or hide my face like I used to. My eyebrows are even and fierce. I am me again!
